Round #8 of the 2012 IGSA World Cup Series starts today in Bogota, Colombia. The Festival de la Bajada joins the IGSA World Cup Series after the big success of the 2011 South American Tour stop. Parque Nacional Olaya Herrera, in the center of Bogata, is the location of the race. It's Colombia's oldest national park dating back to 1937 featuring an urban rain forest and roads that wind around to different monuments and places of interest. The 1.4 km (.09mi) course is both fast and technical providing the competitors with a serious challenge.
Plenty of rain fell on the 2011 event creating additional challenges. Brazailian veteran Juliano Cassemiro won over a tough field that included Patrick Switzer, Dillon Stephens, Felipe Malaga, Kyle Martin and numerous other top riders. With many of the world's top downhill racers expected to compete and the spectator friendly location in the heart of the city, the Festival de la Bajada promises to be a three-day skateboarding festival of epic proportions.
