Switzer Wins Maryhill
Goldendale, WA, USA - Patrick Switzer won the 6th annual Maryhill Festival of Speed in a wild final heat over number one qualifier Zak Maytum, Alex Tongue, Kevin Reimer, Douglas Silva and Billy Meiners.
Switzer, Maytum and Tongue came around the final corner in a pack with Switzer pulling out a gap of about half a metre at the line over Maytum with Tongue in close pursuit as well. Kevin Reimer's foot tangled with Billy Meiner's wheel on the start causing both riders to go down. Reimer recovered quickly but still lost valuable time. He spent the entire run trying to catch the leaders but came up about five meter's short in the end. Douglas Silva had also been with the lead pack with the top three finishers until he crashed in Seismic Corner near the bottom of the run. He came across the line angrily in fifth place, but no protest was filed. Meiner took a longer time recovering from his start line incident with Reimer and was never in contention, settling for sixth place.
