IGSA President Marcus Rietema has a long history in skateboarding and street luge. He started skating back in 1977 riding freestyle and transition. Marcus was one of the original Glendora Mountain Road (GMR) racers who began bombing the hill in 1978 riding both skateboards and luge. After competing in the 95’ & 96’ X Games, he founded the IGSA and became the Street Luge Sport Organizer for the X Games. Today he takes great pride in still being able to ride at a high level in all disciplines of skateboarding. |

The IGSA is excited to announce the addition of the Malarrara Pro Teutonia World Cup to the 2008 IGSA World Cup Series. Teutonia, Brazil will be the location of the fastest downhill skateboard and street luge event in history October 24-26, 2008. Last year GPS registered speeds of over 125km/h (77.6 mph) were reached in Downhill Skateboard and over 139km/h (86.3 mph) for Street Luge. The IGSA will be using a precision Tag Hauer speed trap this year to establish Official IGSA World Speed Records. |

Brazil - The final days of the Hill Hunters Tour were spent in the vicinity of Aguas Mornas and concluded in Florianopolis. In Aguas Mornas we stayed at Pousada Cascata Das Bromelias, an incredibly beautiful pousada situated at the base of a large waterfall in the middle of the jungle. There was a large central building complete with kitchen, bar, tv room and pool room. It was a beautiful place to stay in an exotic jungle setting. The place is truly paradise! Everyone enjoyed the luxury accommodations after the long days of skating and filming. The skaters spent the last day of riding making numerous runs on different hills. Bricin Lyons even took some runs bare foot!
