Kozakov, Czech Republic- The Kozakov Challenge had been a complete washout on Thursday due to rain, strong winds and heavy fog. Rain continued to fall throughout the night and into Friday. The athlete campground was turned into a giant mud pit and everyone’s spirits were low. By afternoon, the wind had finally subsided and the fog had begun to lift.
Kozakov, Czech Republic – Practice for the 2011 Kozakov Challenge got underway Wednesday afternoon following a morning rain delay. Patrick Switzer, James Kelly, Ramon Konigshausen, Scoot Smith, Mischo Erban, Jackson Shapiera, Stefan Reufli, Nicolas Robert and Robin Sandberg who all finished in the Top 16 of the 2010 World Rankings were present and setting the pace in practice. Everyone was looking forward to the first qualifying run on Thursday morning.
Street Luge veteran Mike McIntyre showed his dominance by winning the Maryhill Festival of Speed. After qualifying first and winning the Street Luge King of the Hill Event on Saturday, Big Macs confidence was high that he would claim his first IGSA World Cup title.
