Goldendale, WA, USA- The Abec 11 Maryhill Festival of Speed got underway today under beautiful sunny skies and strong winds. Racers from around the globe have converged from around the globe for the first IGSA World Cup race of the 2011 season. Open practice was held all day for the more than 220 competitors that will be competing for their piece of the $10,000 purse up for grabs on Sunday.
Maryhill will also host the first ever IGSA Junior World Championship. Junior World Champions will be crowned in two downhill skateboarding divisions. One division for 8-13 years old and the other for 14-17 years old.
Kogelberg, South Africa -Mike Zietsman from Cape Town South Africa has won today's Hot Heels Africa IGSA World Cup race. Zietsman has not competed on the World Cup circuit this year but showed he still knows how to race and win against some of the toughest racers on the planet. Ramon Konigshausen from Zurich, Switzerland finished second. Last years winner and defending IGSA World Cup Series Champion Mischo Erban from Vernon, Canada was third.
