Kogelburg, South Africa- Hot Heels Africa is the longest running event on the IGSA circuit running annually since December 2003. The event is the season finale of the IGSA World Cup series and hosted by S.A.G.R.A (South African Gravity Racing Association).
Racing takes place in the beautiful Kogelberg Biosphere nature reserve an hours drive from Cape Town.
Hot Heels Africa has decided the World Cup Series championship in numerous disciplines throughout the years. Competitorss from around the world have made their way to this intense 1.9km course that demands respect from all downhill racers. The course is run on the tight two lane Buffelstal access road.
The Location
The Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve is about an hour’s scenic drive south east of Cape Town along the False Bay coast. The reserve is known as the "heart of the fynbos kingdom" and is home to an incredible 1 600 different plant species, making it one of the world's richest sites of plant diversity! The race track is situated in a former missile-testing area and includes a dam that provides water to the nearby towns of Rooi-Els and Pringle Bay
Race Course
The 1.9km Hot Heels Africa course demands respect, tactics and technical skill. Due to the road being so narrow riders are faced with a tight fast challenging race with a fast top section that leads to Lloyd's Left. Lloyd's Left exists to a straight past Buffelstal Dam and into the infamous "Baboon bend" and ending with a straight finish.
