World Championships Moved To August 31 - September 2

Calgary, Canada –
The International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA) and Winsport Canada have announced a date change for the Winsport Canada Cup / 11th IGSA World Championships. Due to a scheduling conflict with the 100th Anniversary Calgary Stampede Rodeo, the event is moving to August 31 – September 2, 2012.

The IGSA and Winsport exhausted all other options prior to making this date change. “We really wanted to place the Maryhill and Calgary World Cup races on consecutive weekends to allow competitors traveling from overseas to make one transcontinental flight“, said IGSA President Marcus Rietema.

“Unfortunately, neither Winsport or the IGSA realized the date conflict until it was too late. We explored the possibility of moving the Calgary event to the weekend before Maryhill but there was already another big event scheduled for that weekend. By moving back to the first weekend of September, the Winsport Canada Cup returns to the dates it occupied in 2011. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this will cause to anyone”, Rietema said.

Preparations are moving full speed ahead to make the 11th IGSA World Championships the greatest downhill event in history. The Winsport Canada Cup will once again feature a big prize purse, live video streaming, huge crowds, beer gardens and much more. Competitors will ride the chairlift allowing for non-stop action all three days. Last years race was one of the hardest fought in IGSA history. With the added prestige of the World Championships an even tougher battle is expected.
